Creating Clean Fuel Generators to Power Telecom Towers

Israeli start-up GenCell unveiled its A5 off-grid power solution, the world’s first affordable primary power alternative to diesel generators. Diesel generators,
which power some one million telecom towers in off-grid or poor-grid locations worldwide, are highly polluting, but the alternative hydrogen-powered fuel cells require a hydrogen infrastructure. GenCell’s pioneering technology solves that problem by converting ammonia, a readily available and inexpensive chemical, into hydrogen on demand. GenCell was founded by graduates of the Israel Defense Forces and of the Apollo and Mir space programs. Its generators are also used for rural electrification and mission-critical backup applications. Recently, GenCell was chosen as an exhibitor for the Israeli Expo held at the Peres Center for Peace and Innovation.
